On Sunday, the whole class takes the train to a lakeside town for a class outing. Buying tickets at the counter, platforms and departures/arrivals, a delay announcement, a connecting bus to Potsdam, an old church and a tour by Herr Schmidt, Mobi’s guidebook, and Leo swimming in the lake. 22 sentences about trains, stations, picnics, and sightseeing form a single episode. Am Sonntag macht der Kurs einen Ausflug an einen See.
On Sunday the whole class is going on an outing to a lake.
Frau Schmidt sagt: „Wir treffen uns um acht am Bahnhof.“
Ms. Schmidt says: "We’ll meet at the station at eight."
Ich kaufe die Fahrkarten am Schalter.
I buy the tickets at the counter.
Der Zug fährt von Gleis 7 ab.
The train departs from platform 7.
Auf dem Bahnsteig wartet Leo mit einem Koffer. Für einen Tag!
On the platform Leo is waiting with a suitcase. It’s only a day trip!
Abfahrt: neun Uhr. Ankunft: zehn Uhr.
Departure: nine o’clock. Arrival: ten o’clock.
Eine Ansage: „Der Zug hat zehn Minuten Verspätung.“
Announcement: "The train is delayed by ten minutes."
Die Bahn ist voll. Mobi steht.
The train is packed. Mobi is standing.
In Potsdam gibt es einen Anschluss: ein Bus zum See.

Der Kurs kommt um elf Uhr am See an.
